Promoting physical and mental wellbeing through PE, developing the whole child
Exceed LP were looking for a provider to unify their PE across all academies, and provide a delivery reflective of their high standards.
All schools have received weekly delivery and have engaged in an intra-academy league throughout the year as well as each school having access to playground leaders and staff development training.
1000+ Children engaged in high quality PE | 100+ Children engaged in inter-school competition | 100+ Playground leaders trained
We were heavily involved in Adwick Primary’s curriculum delivery but had no involvement in extra-curricular delivery prior to 2017. Adwick were wanting to increase their school sports engagement through lunch clubs and approached us asking if we could help as this was an area they really wanted to develop.
With the large number of children at both sites, we devised an activity rota allowing children to rotate between 4 different activities each day, structured to their year group. We capped the amount involved in each activity so we could monitor numbers easier, our trained playground leaders also help in officiating and monitoring our activities.
We now have over 100 children participating in physical activity across both sites every lunch time.
We were approached by Rosedale as they had a group of KS2 children who weren’t engaging 100% in physical activity on offer at the school. Again, we wanted to try raise those activity levels, and offer an alternative approach to PE.
We set up 2 ‘active hero’ groups for a group of KS2 boys and a group of 2 KS2 girls, and we ordered in some ‘boot camp’ equipment. We then planned out a variety of circuits for the children to complete, by one of our circuit trained staff and run the groups every Thursday afternoon.
The children are increasing their involvement in physical activity and are very much enjoying the group. Monitoring results each week in their own books, allows them to compete against themselves each week and has offered an accessible, friendly approach to competition and physical activity.
Keeping children active with simple, but progressive 'PE units' that could be completed using equipment at home
Working in combination with your-pe.co.uk, we created over 40 home learning PE lessons, covering 8 different topics including OAA, Fundamental Movement Skills and health and fitness
Over 5000 pupils accessed our home learning resources, with feedback from schools stating --- "The children have absolutely loved the home learning lessons, they have been sharing pictures and videos with us every week - thank you for creating them" - Carr Lodge Academy
